The Astros Wives Organization will be honored tonight by the Houston Area Women’s Center at their annual Spring dinner. The event is to take place at the Hilton Post Oak Hotel and will begin at 6:30 p.m. The Houston Area Women’s Center is honoring the Astros Wives Organization for their ongoing dedication and charitable contributions to the Women’s Center over the last 20 years.
Representing the Astros and the Astros Wives Organization at tonight’s dinner will be Astros President of Business Operations Pam Gardner, and Astros wives Erika Bagwell (wife of Jeff), Lori Deshaies (wife of Jim), Mary Lee (wife of Carlos), Pamela Michaels (wife of Jason), Michelle Quintero (wife of Humberto), Luz Rodriguez (wife of Wandy) and Heather Sampson (wife of Chris). Gardner and Sampson both serve on the Board of Directors for the Houston Area Women’s Center.
“The Houston Astros are committed to making a difference in the community,” said Gardner. “We are so proud that our wives are and have been involved with that commitment at a major level for many years. Family, commitment and community are strengths of our team both on and off the field. We commend the Astros Wives Organization for years of service to this most worthy cause.”
Each year, for the last 19 seasons, the Astros Wives Organization has held its Annual Black Ties and Baseball Caps Gala which has raised more than $3,000,000 for the Houston Area Women’s Center. The Astros Wives Organization’s annual gift accounts for nearly one quarter of the HAWC’s charitable event budget and the Astros Wives are listed among the Center’s top five contributors.
The Astros Wives Organization also partners with the Astros in Action Foundation on many projects throughout the year, including the Astros Pink in the Park Celebration and the Annual Astros Pet Calendar.
The Houston Area Women’s Center helps individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence in their efforts to move their lives forward. They provide shelter, counseling and advocacy to support them in building lives free from the effects of violence.
