Beyond the Closet Door: A Journey Towards Healing A Gathering of Sista Girls

On Sunday, September 13 from 3-5 pm, Master Communicator and Author - Sharon Jenkins will share her personal story of how she went from victim to victor over abuse during a Gathering of Sista Girls at Urban Divas Hair Studio – 11243 Veterans Memorial Drive – Houston, TX 77067. “All sufferers of child abuse deal with emotional issues in the aftermath of their oppression, whether it is physical, sexual, verbal or mental” said Jenkins. “My goal for this Gathering is to give those in attendance the opportunity to experience my struggles with abuse, to provide strength and courage on how to address these issues, how to handle abusive situations and how to finally be released from victimization” she concluded. The public is invited to attend and participate in this event.
During the Gathering, Author Sharon Jenkins will share her closet experience as a toddler and how this experience of neglect has shaped her life experiences since then. Jenkins will share her experiences from infancy through adulthood. As an advocate for the abused, Jenkins has made it her personal mission to help other child-abuse adult victims “stop the hurting.” In addition to sharing her story, those in attendance will also have the opportunity to join in the dialogue by sharing their stories and struggles with abuse and victimization.
Known locally as the Master Communicator, Sharon Jenkins is proficient in communicating the plight of the abused child in her book “Beyond the Closet Door.” As a motivational speaker and workshop facilitator, Jenkins serves as the Inspirational Principal for Desire to Inspire Writers’ Workshop Series. She is also co-author of the books Songs of Three Sisters and Ready, Set, Succeed and an avid contributor to Gospel Truth News.
