The “sun’ll come out” for Houston at Big Brothers Big Sisters’ 2010 Just Thinkin’ About Tomorrow Gala, Friday May 7th ...

The money raised from the gala supports finding and matching volunteer mentors with local children. Currently, more than 300 children are ready to be matched with a mentor; over half of them are boys waiting for a Big Brother. The cost to find, interview, and match a volunteer with a child for a year is $1,000.

“Our donors help children reach their full potential,” said Marian Davenport, President and CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston.

One-to-one mentoring has a big impact on children, helping equip them with the tools they need to succeed in life. “The funds we raise help us to create successful long-term relationships with positive outcomes” said Davenport.

The gala will honor BMC Software and its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Robert E. Beauchamp, avid supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
