The Methodist Hospital System has partnered with Houston Community College (HCC) to provide job training using a $902,965 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). The grant will be used to custom train 2,179 new and incumbent workers to increase skills, support state-required certifications and facilitate career advancement opportunities for trainees. Those trained will include registered nurses, patient care assistants and pharmacists. Upon completion of training, the workers will earn an average hourly wage of $36.63. TWC Chairman Andres Alcantar will present a check to HCC Acting Chancellor Renee Byas and representatives from The Methodist Hospital System at a 1 p.m. ceremony to be held in the Atrium of the HCC Coleman College, located at 1900 Pressler St. in Houston.
