Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™ Rodeo Uncorked!® Champion Wine Auction Produces Two Show-Record — March 2, 2013

Award-winning wines from Sonoma County, Calif., sold at high prices, Saturday, March 2, at the 2013 Rodeo Uncorked! Champion Wine Auction and Dinner, benefitting the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The 2013 Grand Champion Best of Show Wine, Alexander Valley Vineyards CYRUS, Alexander Valley, 2008, sold for a record-breaking $215,000 to Bisso Marine Company; David & Annie Dunlap; Energy XXI; and Ronnie & Melba Murphy.
“The wine auction is a great use of the wealth we have been blessed with and I hope that we can make someone else’s life a little better [because of it],” said David Dunlap. “We love the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo for continuing to promote educate in the great state of Texas.”
For a Show record of $205,000, buyers Bradley Fish; Red & Gay Griffin; and Chuck Simmons purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Best of Show Wine, Williams Selyem Westside Road Neighbors Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, 2010.
“Providing the educational benefits for the children is why I get involved every year,” said Bradley Fish a previous champion wine buyer.
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo is a Section 501(c)(3) charity that benefits youth, supports education, and facilitates better agricultural practices through exhibitions and presentation. Since its beginning in 1932, the Show has committed more than $330 million to the youth of Texas. The 2013 Show runs Monday, Feb. 25, through Sunday, March 17.
