Chef Tarsha Gary Wins the Ready Houston Preparedness Kit Chef’s Challenge

Chef Tarsha Gary of Crave Gourmet Bakery & Catered Café took top spot at the first annual Ready Houston Preparedness Kit Chef’s Challenge sponsored by Walmart last weekend at Discovery Green. Hosted by the City of Houston Mayor’s Office of Public Safety and Homeland Security, the event challenged five prominent Houston-area chefs to a cooking competition using camp stoves and non-perishable food items to simulate food preparation conditions in an emergency situation to promote National Preparedness Month. Chef Tarsha is also a culinary professor at San Jacinto Community College, as well as the founder and president of Ecotone World, an urban agriculture and community sustainability initiative.
