At the forum, Houstonians will learn how they can prepare for the new Health Insurance Marketplace opening for business starting October 1. Health and Human Services Region VI Director Marjorie McColl Petty will deliver the keynote on what the Marketplace will look like in Texas and how people can participate in the Open Enrollment period starting in October for insurance that will begin in January.

The forum will include special topics for both healthcare providers and individual community members about the new healthcare law, how to access new coverage options through the Marketplace, and connect to existing health services in our community. To register visit: http://www.cdftexas.org .

· The Morning Session (9:00-12:30pm) includes special topics for healthcare providers and stakeholders. Local experts will lead panel discussions explaining the new healthcare law, important changes to community outreach and enrollment practices, and new online information resources.

· The Afternoon Session (1:00-3:00pm) provides an opportunity for community members to learn about how to use and understand the new Health Insurance Marketplace and access new healthcare options. Attendees will have an opportunity to voice their healthcare experiences, engage in discussion with local elected officials, and connect with local healthcare providers and navigators.

Under the new system, nearly every Texas child will have unprecedented access to healthcare coverage. And, for the first time millions of previously uninsured Texas parents and other adults will be able to find affordable coverage options.
