exhibItalia 2014

Fun weekend for all ages

WHO: exhibItalia will showcase Italian fashion and accessories; food and wine; design and technology; culture and tourism; and other Italian exhibitors. The exhibit is sponsored by the Italy America Chamber of Commerce Texas.

WHAT: Two days of Italian culture for all ages. In addition to the exhibitors there will be fashion shows, cooking demonstrations and chefs’ cook-off, music and performances. The Kid’s Zone will have uniquely Italian activates for children; two cooking classes each day; and, on Sunday a unique learning experience of nontechnology through fun and games.

Open to the public. Admission $9; $12 at the door. Free admission for children 12 and under. Information: 713-626-9303.

WHERE: George R. Brown Convention Center (Hall A)

1001 Avenida de las Americas (77010)

WHEN: Saturday, April 5; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. (official welcome 9:45 a.m.)

Sunday, April 6; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

(main programs begin 12 noon on both days)

WHY: Most of the 50 exhibitors have not ventured into the Houston area marketplace before. Historically, they’ve been magnets to Miami and New York. It’s Houston’s healthy and vibrant economy and lifestyle that has caught their attention. The exhibition gives them a chance to get reactions from Houstonians to their goods and gives Houstonians a chance to see, feel, and touch (and perhaps buy) “made in Italy” products.
