On his first day on the job new Texans head coach Bill O'Brien effectively ended the culture of previous head coach Gary Kubiak by firing the entire coaching staff including defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, offensive coordinator Rick Dennison.

Philllips thanked the organization on Twitter saying, "Thanks to McNair family and great Texan fans and most all our players. It was wonderful being home. I wish the best to all."

Phillips joined the coaching staff following the disastrous 2010 season in which the team had the worst defense in the league. The defense vastly improved into one of the best units in the league under his leadership, helping the Texans secure consecutive playoff appearances in 2011 & 2012.

Also fired were quarterback coach Karl Dorrell, running back coach Chick Harris, linebackers coach Reggie Herring and defensive backs coach Vance Joseph.
