Coach Bill O'Brien seems happy with his NFL draft picks

It’s an exciting time for the Houston Texans Football Team. After coming off two years of ups and downs it seems like we have some rookies who can make an impact on the field. After the Texans had a successful 2012 season of a 12-4 record, and made a playoff run before getting knocked out by the Baltimore Ravens, it was expected that they would come back better than ever for the 2013 season.
Unfortunately, the Texans ended up having a very dreadful season suffering a 14 game losing streak and ending the season 2-14. As a result of this disappointing season Head Coach Gary Kubiak was fired and replaced with Bill O’Brien. O’Brien knew he had some holes to fill to improve the Texans offense and defense.
As the 2014 NFL Draft rolled around there were a lot of serious decisions that needed to be made. The Texans ended up picking 10 new prospects for the team. The biggest shock was not picking a quarter back in the very first round of the draft in which they had the first pick. Instead the Texans chose defensive end Jadeveon Clowney from South Carolina. After his sophomore season at Carolina there was not doubt that he would be a top pick for the NFL Draft in the upcoming year. Clowney was the talk of the draft and has brought a lot of excitement to the Texans. Clowney is expected to make a big impact for the Texans. Along with Clowney the Texans grabbed Lonnie Ballentine, Chris Boswell, Max Bullough, Louis Nix III, Xavier Su’a-Filo, Jay Prosch, C.J. Fiedorowicz, and Tom Savage.
So far Coach O’Brien seems to be very pleased with the rookies and their work ethic. Although it’s only been two days he is pleased with their new additions. The rookie camp moved along nicely, but we can all assume how intense camp may be for a rookie especially entering the NFL from the collegiate level. O’Brien tells us that there will be about three meetings a day and in between those meetings may be a walkthrough or a practice. “There is a lot of information that is thrown at these guys. It’s pretty interesting to watch these guys, how they learn and how they process through this information and then eventually be able to put it on the practice field,” said O’Brien. After a successful camp we have something to look forward to in our rookies. After two days of practice the rookies have made a good first impression of Coach O’Brien.
“For these two days, give these guys credit. They’ve been on time. They’ve worked hard. It’s a good group to work with,” said O’Brien. That statement alone shows that we have some reliable rookies to help the Texans through this rebuilding process. The Texans are looking to bounce back and regain the success they had two years ago.
