New York, NY (September 10, 2014) – The 10th Anniversary of Circle of Sisters will be a weekend New York and the tri-state area will not want to miss as it’s the largest EXPO in New York City uniting, motivating and celebrating women of color. The event takes place Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5, 2014 at the Jacob Javits Center, 34th street and 11th Avenue.
The main stage will host explosive panels with R&B veterans including Grammy Award-winning recording artist Faith Evans, Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter, actor and author, Tyrese Gibson and Grammy winning-artist Johnny Gill; a host of reality TV stars, and a few dashing celebrities couples such as Niecy Nash & Jay Tucker, Rebecca & Terry Crews, and Tamela & David Mann.
“This year’s expo is all about celebrating; it’s our ten year milestone. We are putting together a vibrant list of panels and activities featuring some of today’s most influential actors, singers, television personalities, entertainers, politicians and more,” says Deon Levingston, Vice President/General Manager of Emmis New York. “We haven’t been alone in our success, our community has been able enjoy a fun-filled weekend with experts and stars for a value. They keep coming back for more. We are expecting more than 50,000 this year,” he adds.
Saturday night’s R&B concert will feature Johnny Gill, Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson and Tyrese. The cooking pavilion will welcome Bravo’s “Top Chef” Lisa Fernandez, Celebrity Chef and Restaurateur Pat Neely, Food Network’s “Chopped” Danielle Saunders, teen chef Alexandria Brooks of Food Network's “Chopped” Teen Tournament, and NY’s own Melba Wilson, who has appeared on Food Network and specializes in comfort food.
To celebrate the 10th Anniversary, WBLS/WLIB has rolled back the vendor booth prices to what they were in 2004. There will also be special general admission ticket prices leading up to the EXPO. The goal is to open up the EXPO to a larger range of attendees and vendors to aid in continuing to foster a positive network of “circle of sisters”. WBLS/WLIB aims to maintain the idea around supporting female driven businesses by allowing entrepreneurs the chance to directly connect with consumers in a fun and non-pressure environment.
This year’s explosive two-day EXPO will include the general EXPO, film screenings; relationship, health and financial panels; an R&B concert and Gospel concert, fashion show, the Cooking Pavilion and more!
