Houston, TX (December 3, 2015) – Houston Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center announced the final recipient of the charitable Second Chance program as Bequita Pegram, of Houston, TX.

Led by Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons Dr. Donald Cohen and Dr. Christopher Dauterive, the Second Chance program produced 506 local applicants and received a remarkable amount of supportive response from the Houston community. Ms. Pegram submitted her application in hopes to eliminate the embarrassment she faces on a daily basis from missing teeth, which were caused by periodontal issues and out of control glucose levels that her diabetes provoked. She stood out as a top candidate because of her ambition, drive, and desire to teach the youth of Houston and help them succeed.

A mother, wife, barber, and currently becoming a high school biology teacher, Ms. Pegram is excited to have the luxuries of laughing, smiling, and uplifting those she loves, the people she meets, and future students every day. “Working as a barber and teacher, I will have an opportunity to share my experience with others,” said Ms. Pegram. “You will be giving me back a piece of me that I miss, my smile.”

Drs. Cohen and Dauterive would like to improve Ms. Pegram’s overall quality of life by addressing other needs. Community members interested in contributing their services are encouraged to contact Houston Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center and fill out a donation form by visiting, http://secondchancehouston.com/donate.php.

Drs. Cohen and Dauterive will work together with local Prosthodontist Dr. Sergio Ortegon, the Victor E. Castro laboratory, and offer their services to provide Ms. Pegram with a brand new smile using implants donated by Nobel Biocare. Ms. Pegram will undergo a procedure known as the All-on-4® Treatment Concept. This technique is a highly sought after dental implant procedure noted for its minimal recovery time, natural look and appearance, as well as its ability to restore oral function. The All-on-4® Treatment Concept has become a popular choice among those who are seeking an alternative to dentures and looking for a permanent solution for replacing a full-arch of teeth.
