Texas Southern Men's Track and Field wins 2015 SWAC Indoor Championship, Lady Tigers Finish Second

Birmingham, Ala. - The 2015 Southwestern Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship was awarded to the Tigers of Texas Southern University February 22 at the Birmingham Crossplex. TSU ended the day with a total of 128 points. This marks their seventh victory in the league championships. Head coach Clyde Duncan was presented the 2015 Men's Indoor Coach of the Year award.
Demetrious Williams was awarded the 2015 Men's Most Outstanding Field Performer. He claimed two victories in long jump with a leap of 7.20m and in Triple Jump with a length of 15.21m.
Other medalists include: Jawalyn Brooks who set a new SWAC record for men's pole vault, jumping a height of 4.65m (15-03.00); D'Andre Lewis who claimed the 1600m SWAC title with a new record time of 4:18.71; and Jose Medina who finished third in the 5000m clocking in with a time of 16:10.10.
Texas Southern Lady Tigers finished in second place with a total of 94.50 points. Medalists were: Karina Foster who placed second in the Weight Throw with a toss of 16.89m (55-05.00); Melissa Pena who finished in second place in the Pole Vault jumping a height of 9-06.50; Terralyn Johnson who won the women's triple jump SWAC title with a leap of 12.50m (41-00.25); and Tiffany Heard who was crowned the 2015 60m Hurdle champion setting a new SWAC record with a time of 8.44
