Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was more than a man or a revolutionary figure; he is history. Dr. King is a symbol of what it means to make a change in this country. There was once a time when black people were not allowed to drink from the same fountain, eat in the same restaurants, or attend the same schools solely based on the color of their skin. However, Dr. King nonviolently fought against these discriminatory practices. As a result of his civil disobedience, we are blessed with the opportunity to be treated as equals.

As I entered into the 84th Legislative Session, I am committed to uphold the principles and philosophies that Dr. King held so true. I will protect each Texans' right to vote, a quality public education, and a fair justice system. Without a doubt, Dr. King changed our nation and the world for the better. So I will keep the faith and keep the fight this session to continue advancing our district, our state, and our nation.

I thank you for your trust, your prayers, and your support! Enjoy this Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and remember his dream!
