(CNN) -- President Barack Obama called former President George H.W. Bush on Thursday, following Bush's fall on Wednesday that left him in the hospital. Bush fell at his home in Kennebunkport, Maine, and broke a vertebrae in his neck. He is in stable condition but will have to wear a neck brace. "This morning, the President called President George H.W. Bush to wish him a speedy recovery. The President extended best wishes on behalf of himself and the first lady," according to Eric Schultz, White House deputy press secretary.
