Harris County Commissioner Gene L. Locke said Thursday that Precinct One plans to spend $12.5 million to repair city of Houston streets in the NRG Park area in time for Super Bowl 2017.
Commissioner Locke announced details of his street repair plan during the unveiling of the Countdown to Super Bowl LI clock.
The streets scheduled for repairs are:
· Holly Hall between Fannin and Texas 288
· Knight between Loop 610 and Fannin
· Ardmore between Holcombe and Holly Hall
· El Rio between Holly Hall and Loop 610
“These improvements will help traffic get in and out of NRG Park, especially when Houston is on the world stage during the 2017 Super Bowl,” Locke said. “Also, they will benefit the thousands of residents who live in the area as well as countless workers who travel the streets before and after the big game is played.”
Locke, who was appointed in January to replace the late Commissioner El Franco Lee, has pledged to partner with the city of Houston on road and community programs.
Commissioners Court is expected to vote on the street-repair project on Feb. 23.
