SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Growing up in West Oakland 24th Linden Street, author Sherika Moore is speaking from experience when she wrote “Been Hustlen the Remake” (published by Xlibris). In this novel, she reveals a story of friendship, courage and salvation.

This book follows a group of friends who grew up together, gaining love and respect for one another at a young age. Though each of them lived different lives, they all have the same struggles – paying bills and negative guidance. These challenges drove them to the road of hustling as a means to survive – all stayed focused on their own talents, gifts or tricks of their trade even though the system’s vision for them was failure. The Oakland friends had one mission: making it out alive and on top by any means necessary.

Moore draws from her creative side to produce a novel that is raw and uncut. She explores the depth of the human psyche, digging deep into the reasons why many stray from the right path. She also underlines how the youth of today are easily influenced by their environment and become the products of society, doing whatever it takes to endure this doggie-E-doggie world. Taking readers through a journey of hardship and tough choices, Moore imparts to them a hard-earned lesson on survival and redemption.

“History repeats itself,” Moore says. “People still hustle to survive with the same stories, some even worse. But this book will enlighten you and motivate you to do something completely different.”
