East Coast, West Coast, Third Coast Houston

You have the East Coast, the West Coast, and now Houston has the Third Coast as we are cohesively making strides in medical science research and education. The Texas Medical Center president and CEO Dr. Robert C. Robbins stated that the fine-dining restaurant Trevisio, rebirth Third Coast, will be the new destination in the heart of Houston’s Texas Medical Center where the “world’s entrepreneurs and change-makers can come together to feed their hunger for innovation.”
The 13,500-square-foot area welcomes you at the door with the bar as its eye. It also includes a patio space with an outdoor fireplace and 2 conference rooms. The décor is mod-chic with business blues and dark grays. Dark woods, marble, and leather give the space a distinguished look. However, there might be a light rumor that the décor is seasonal. Whereas we do not know if it will be or not, we do know the menu will definitely be seasonal with a few year round standards.
Award-winning executive chef Jon Buchanan stopped by my table to actually speak with me about the menu. “I love the diversified culture of Houston and it has been incorporated in our menu from the Kimchi (an in-house specialty) to the dessert.” Caribbean, Asian, Southern, Hispanic, and even Cajun flavors dance together on the menu from the Ahi Poke (my personal fav) cuddled inside of a freshly cracked coconut shell surrounded by mango slivers, fresh avocado and red and green onions. The lightly sea-salted baked Taro chips set off all combined flavors and presentation. “I wanted to utilize sustainable and local ingredients,” said Chef Buchanan. On the menu, you can find Houston Dairymaids, Atkinson Farms, Homestead Gristmill, and 44 farms as local purveyors.
“Can you believe ninety percent of the menu is gluten free? We are featuring a lot of protein and fresh produce,” said executive chef Jon Buchanan. “We wanted to keep the menu very light and healthy, but still offer a lot of flavor.”
Chef Buchanan also designed one of the most fun and innovative happy hours you will ever visit. With his Gumbo Balls and Tequila Lime Wings, you are in for a treat. Pair it with more than 116 bottles on the wine list, a super fun Sommelier, specialty cocktails, ten local beer selections and more, and you will be happy for more than an hour.
Don’t forget about dessert! A trio of apple tart & brown butter ice cream with caramel sauce stood next to a sticky sweet toffee pudding cake with whipped cream and brandy snap, which stood next to a flaky strawberry shortcake with fresh-cut strawberries.
Third Coast is now open and resides in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. Make your way to the place to enjoy the atmosphere, food, view, and feed your innovation, tell them #TeamStyleMag sent you!
