HOUSTON – (September 6) Former Houston Texans Pro Bowler and author, Wade Smith, presents Bedtime Stories: a night of couture, cocktails and charity, Friday September 30 at Clé Houston from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Earlier this year, Smith released his first children’s book, Smitty Hits the PlayBooks, which is now available through Amazon. Throughout the summer, Smith has promoted his book through numerous readings and book tours, which has further helped the Wade Smith Foundation's mission.

Enjoy an evening under the stars featuring several of your favorite celebrities as they “walk on water” down the runway wearing BCBG and tailored suits by Abe Ndoye Designs over Cle’s Miami-style pool. Celebrity friends include Houston Texans’ Duane Brown, Whitney Mercilus, Chris Myers, Owen Daniels, Kevin Walker and Dynamo’s Brian Ching. KHOU’s Mia Gradney and Seth Payne from Sports 610 will be emcees for the night, and Houston Texans Alumni, Travis Johnson, will host the live auction. Expect an exciting, over-the-top cocktail party featuring special live entertainment. At the event, we will also be honoring Julie Baker Finck, who is President of the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation.

The proceeds from Bedtime Stories will go to the WSF’s literacy outreach programs, including Reading with the Pro’s and the Smitty’s Scholars scholarship fund. Tickets to the event can be purchased here.

The WSF’s Reading with the Pros Literacy Tour (RWTP) promotes and supports childhood literacy and education through in-person celebrity book readings and classroom visits. As of April 2016, over 100 current/former NFL, NBA and WNBA players and collegiate athletes have joined Wade at nearly 50 RWTP reading events, including over 30 public libraries and elementary schools throughout Houston and Dallas, Texas, since the program began in April 2012.
