Houston Texans DE J.J. Watt was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America today. Watt, who also won the award in 2012 and 2014, joins Bruce Smith (1990, 1993 and 1996) and Reggie White (1987, 1991 and 1998) as the only players to earn the distinction three times. Watt is also the first player in NFL history to win the award in back-to-back seasons.
