Toronto singer Tory Lanez was arrested yesterday in Broward County, the home of young sensations like Kodak Black and XXXTENTACION, both of whom are in precarious legal standing. He was released from police custody later in the day, after posting the requisite $1,000 bond. After his release, he went on Twitter to respond to all the online clamor about his legal trouble.

Originally pulled over for expired registration tags, Lanez was eventually dealt a couple of serious charges, in addition to his traffic violations. He was arrested after cops found in his vehicle a concealed firearm as well as less than 20 grams of marijuana. The drug charge is a first-degree misdemeanor, while the firearm possession counts as a third-degree felony, punishable by a maximum fine of $5,000 and up to 5 years in prison. In his first post-jail tweet, Lanez wrote, "believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see. don't let the internet fool you. the truth prevails." He wrote a similar caption in an Instagram post.

The tweet might be a response to online allegations that Lanez is guilty of self-snitching. After news of his arrest broke, incriminating footage allegedly taken from Lanez' own Snapchat resurfaced on social media. In the clip, Lanez chuckles as he points the camera first at a box full of bricks of weed and then on an open metal case with a rifle inside.

At this point, there's no evidence to suggest that the contraband seen in that recording is connected to yesterday's arrest. Lanez is intent on shutting down all rumors that he implicated himself via Snapchat. Responding to a tweet that has since been deleted, Tory suggested that the Snapchat footage in question is 7 months old -- taken while shooting a film in support of his I Told You album. He seems to say that the guns and drugs seen in the recording were props that were used in the movie.
