TORONTO, Ontario -- Equibit Development Corporation, creator of the Equibit blockchain and blockchain applications for the global securities industry, said it will celebrate the pending launch of its initial coin offering at The Loft at 600 F in Washington, DC on Jan. 31.
EDC, which plans to raise as much as $7 million in an initial coin offering, one of the largest on record by a Canadian-based company, will use the launch party to commemorate the opening of the public portion of the ICO. The gathering promises to be a stimulating evening of discussion about the blockchain.
The public sale is scheduled to begin Feb. 1 and run until March 31.
EDC Chief Executive Officer Chris Horlacher will make a presentation at the celebration. He will be joined by Chief Operating Officer Nathan Wosnack, Chief Science Officer Brent Kievit-Kylar and blockchain specialist Christian Saucier.
The event is limited to 100 attendees and more than half of the tickets have been spoken for. Matt McKibbin, a driving force behind the d10e series of decentralization conferences, as well as the Washington D.C. Bitcoin Meetup, is organizing the celebration.
EDC is opening the ICO privately to qualifying persons at the same pricing and terms as the public sale scheduled to open on Feb. 1. Those qualified to participate in the private sale include friends, family and business partners of EDC, securities dealers, previous EDC investors and anyone who attends the Washington launch party.
“This is our way of saying thank you to the people who’ve supported our project from the beginning,” said Chris Horlacher, EDC’s chief executive officer. “It’s also important for us to get Equibit into the hands of dealers who will help make a market in the Equibit token as well as introduce issuing companies to the network.”
Appetizers will be served and the bar will be open. The event starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available here.
The full Equibit white paper is available on EDC’s website here and at Cornell University’s arXiv e-print archive.
