Today Nike has introduced the newest Kobe Bryant sneaker silhouette, the Kobe A.D. NXT, which features a flyknit upper and a unique shroud covering the innovative lacing structure.
The Kobe A.D.NXT, designed by Kobe in collaboration with long time Kobe-Collaborator and Nike Senior designer, Eric Avar, was conceptualized and brought to life as a “rebirth” given it has an unconventional lacing system and entry mimicking a clam shell.
“The updates we've made to Kobe's line demonstrate a new way of thinking about performance design,” says Avar.
The Flyknit design is woven in a circular pattern as another symbol of a lotus flower representing “rebirth” in a traditional Hindu or Buddhist ideologies. Additionally, the shoe features a drop-in insole that integrates seamlessly with the outsole.
Per Nike,
"Other embellishments on the shoe include secret Kobe codes (a regular feature on his shoes). On the laterial side, the code translates to “unhinge” (defined here as disrupting the normal operation), whereas on the medial side the code relays the thought, "end and begin.”"
The Kobe A.D. NXT launches globally on Monday, April 3rd in both grey and volt colorways, for the retail price of $200.
