In conjunction with Black History Month, the National Inventors Hall of Fame®, in partnership with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), is seeking nominations of African-American inventors for its 2019 Class of Inductees. Nominees must hold a U.S. patent for an invention that has contributed to the progress of science and the useful arts, as well as our nation’s welfare.

National Inventors Hall of Fame Inductees who are African-American include innovation luminaries such as Thomas Jennings, Dry-Cleaning Process; Garrett Morgan, Gas Mask and Three-Way Traffic Signal; Victor B. Lawrence, Signal Processing in Telecommunications; and Marshall Jones, Industrial Lasers.
