First Base:

After taking the last three games against the Texas Rangers, the Houston Astros is currently on a winning streak. Yes. You heard me correctly. The Houston Astros have won three games in a row and have finally taken the fans off panic mode.

Second Base:

Earlier in the season, the Astros starting rotation was having difficulties going deep into innings which put a lot of pressure on the bullpen. Things began to turn for them as they made the trip of 45-North. In the last four games, Astros’ starting pitchers have posted a combined 1.50 ERA, allowing just 4 ER in 24 IP., allowing just nine hits during that span.

Jake Odorizzi bounced back from a rough outing in his last start against the Los Angeles Angels, where he lasted less than an inning to throw six innings, giving up one run on one hit. His teammate Cristian Javier got his first start of the season as he transitioned from a long reliever to starter as the Astros went to a six-man rotation. Javier’s five innings were impressive, allowing just two runs as Houston won the third game of the series.

Third Base:

I am sorry, I cannot think of any more accolades to heap on starting pitcher Justin Verlander. Ok, well, maybe one. GREAT. And he displayed that once again in an early day game in Arlington, allowing just one run on four hits with eight strikeouts in 7.0 innings to improve to 2-1 on the season. He now leads the Majors in both innings pitched (26.0), WHIP (0.69), and ranks 7th in the AL in ERA (1.73).

Home Plate:

It is pretty safe to say that most of the individuals reading this article knew that these two players would touch home plate. It is fun to watch the bats of right fielder Kyle Tucker, and designated hitter Yordan Alvarez heat up. Both go into the weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays with hitting streaks and have finally found their stroke at the plate, which strikes fear in opposing pitchers.

As the Astros won 3 of 4 from the Rangers this week, Tucker and Alvarez took command of the offense combining for a .480 batting average, .542 OBP, .857 SLG, and 11 RBI. In the last game of the series, Tucker came off the bench to pinch-hit as manager Dusty Baker had given him the day off. All he did was drive in two runs with the first pinch-hit home run of his career.

Houston will now head north of the border to play a three-game weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays.
