Houston Entrepreneurs & local City officials host Photography Exhibit and Marker Preview of George Floyd Statue at Tom Bass Park

Dannette Davis, Founder of Kay Davis in the Community and local city officials will host a photo exhibit titled “The Unveiling 5/25/22” in observance of the Birthdate of George Floyd on October 14th, 2022.
The exhibit will showcase work captured by noted photographer Vicky Pink and Valle McClain at the George Floyd statue unveiling, and a sneak preview of the “Permanent Marker” provided by Harris County.
“The response to George’s death became the beacon to have laws changed in our criminal justice system and spurred conversations on race that was desperately needed in modern day society,” said Davis. “The Permanent Marker that will be placed alongside George’s statue at Tom Bass Park to provide a constant reminder of who he was and what his story has meant to everyone.”
A panel discussion will be hosted by Forward Times Editor, Jeffrey L. Boney and will include an interactive conversation with Pure Justice, The Texas Organizing Project and NAACP President, Bishop Dixon.
Prior to the sneak preview and panel discussion, Davis will honor local Houston Community leaders at a VIP reception. Honorees include; Commissioner Precinct One, Rodney Ellis, C-Stem Founder, Dr. Reagan Flowers, Art Consultant, Robert Hodge, NAACP President Bishop James Dixon II, and Dr. Carolyn Shabazz City Council Member District D.
The sneak peak of the marker and the panel discussion will be open to the public.

In 2019, Donations to the Ensemble Young Audiences, in Honor of the Playwright, Celeste Walker, Director, Eileen Morris and Composer, Stephane Blue (All Women Trio for the Play "More than Christmas") Last year’s 2021 “For the Art In you” featured Attucks MS, Cullen MS and Yates HS student Art Programs where the competition led to Scholarships for the Steam programs, working with C-Stem Partners, then Art Winners and programs from the schools enjoyed lectures from noted artist Leonard Freeman, Michelle Barnes, and received prizes for 1, 2 and 3rd places. Students also participated in a 2022 Dance Fusion By CJ Summer Dance Workshop. Other funds were distributed to Houston area families and single mothers in need through the Random Acts of Kindness Grants (RAK).
