UHD’s Walk2Vote is a voting initiative created by the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) students to connect and empower young voters to turn out to vote. The Walk2Vote Celebration will include refreshments, music, and more followed by the Walk2Vote to the polls at UHD.
This event reminds students that the freedom to vote is not just a privilege, it is a responsibility.
For the first time in its history, UHD is proud to be an official polling site along with University of Houston and Texas Southern University. UHD accepted Mayor Sylvester Turner's Early Vote Challenge, which runs from October 24 to November 4. Each day the election clerk at each campus will tally the number of votes and report back to the Mayor's Office. When the challenge ends, the campus with the most votes wins the challenge and will earn bragging rights as leading the charge in this election cycle.
The event will be at Noon on Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at One Main Building South Deck for the Walk Celebration. Polling is in the Milam and Travis Rooms of the UHD Welcome Center.
Hundreds of University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) students, staff, faculty, and community leaders will gather to celebrate our political engagement and civic responsibility by walking to vote.
