Boots and Bling After the Rodeo is a family and community-friendly cultural festival on the campus of Texas Southern University to raise funding for student scholarships for the College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences. It will take place on Saturday, March 25 from 1 to 6 p.m. in lot M (Blodgett and Tierwester).

“Boots and Bling After the Rodeo helps to support our students and their dreams and visions for educational attainment,” said Dr. Jason Oby, Professor of Music, and Acting Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Behavioral Sciences. “A scholarship can vastly reduce financial stress and help our students focus more on their studies.”

The festival is the first scholarship fundraiser supporting undergraduate students majoring in the liberal arts and behavioral sciences specifically. It will feature live musical guest Koray Broussard and the Zydeco Unit. The afternoon festival will also include a host of contests and prizes, two-step dancing, food trucks, a children-friendly area, a mechanical bull ride, student performances, along with multiple vendors, and more. Additionally, a silent auction of faculty artwork will be a highlight.

The afternoon becomes a Zydeco dance party with musical guest accordionist Koray Broussard and the Zydeco Unit with his own boot stomping, funky, soulful and R&B sound.

A multi-instrumentalist, Broussard plays the single and triple-row accordion, as well as rhythm guitar and bass. His music reflects contemporary R&B and gospel influences.

Tickets are $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 years old and under.
