Houston City Controller candidate Chris Hollins previewed the first television ad in his campaign for City Controller today. Based on public fundraising reports, Hollins’s campaign is expected to be the only City Controller candidate on broadcast television this election.

The ad is titled “Houston Raised Me” and focuses on Hollins’s Houston roots, his experience as County Clerk – where he stood up to Greg Abbott to protect Houstonians’ right to vote – and his plans to protect our tax dollars and bring new ideas and accountability to City Hall.

The ad can be viewed online at www.hollins.us/tvad. It will go live on broadcast television stations on October 10 and run through Election Day.

Hollins said, “I’m running for City Controller to provide a sound financial and policy foundation for a well-run, modern, and efficient city government. I’ll work hard to safeguard our tax dollars from fraud, waste and abuse, to invest our city funds safely and wisely, and to recommend best practices from major cities around the globe to make our government work for every Houstonian.”

In the private sector, Hollins worked with multinational accounting firms to help large government agencies create multi-billion dollar budgets, cut costs, and improve service delivery. As Harris County Clerk in 2020, he created the budget for and led the most efficient and accessible election in the history of Texas – in the middle of the pandemic. Hollins currently serves on the METRO Board of Directors, helping to oversee its $1.8 billion budget and shape its $7 billion expansion plan.
