The Women’s Fund for Health Education and Resiliency, a nonprofit providing Houston-area women and girls with the tools needed to be advocates for their health, will present an in-person “Doc Talk” presentation on “What I Would Tell My 35-year-old Self” with Dr. Mary Clare Haver, author of The Galveston Diet, followed by a networking Happy Hour on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 4:30 – 6 p.m., at the offices of alliantgroup, 3009 Post Oak Blvd, Ste. 2000, Houston 77056. The event is open to the public at no cost.
As we age and gain wisdom, our priorities change, and we sometimes look back and think "If I had only known then..." Dr. Haver will share with you her letter "What I Would Tell My 35-Year-Old Self" to give you a glimpse into what she, as a Board-Certified OB-GYN and postmenopausal woman, would recommend for your best health and aging well.
Dr. Haver is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Certified Culinary Medicine Specialist from Tulane University. She is a Louisiana State University Medical Center graduate and completed her Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). Dr. Haver was a clinical professor at UTMB and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She has served as a Hospitalist, Associate Residency Director, and Assistant Professor in her career. In 2021 she opened Mary Claire Wellness, a clinic dedicated to caring for menopausal patients. Dr. Haver has amassed over 3 million followers across social media by posting advice for women going through menopause. She understands that menopause healthcare is in dire need of change and is proud to be leading the conversation.
Doc Talk, one of the many free women’s outreach education programs offered, is a series of conversations with medical professionals on cutting-edge and trending health topics. Moderated by Casey Curry, Doc Talk is funded in part by The John P. McGovern Foundation.
For more than 44 years, The Women’s Fund has educated girls and women in the Houston area through classes, workshops, lectures, and publications that teach resiliency skills and relate those skills to current and future health risks. Dedicated to ensuring positive health outcomes for individuals and communities, The Women’s Fund serves close to 12,000 women and adolescent girls and distributes close to 10,000 publications each year at no cost.
