LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, and Joel Embiid lead as judges at the upcoming UNINTERRUPTED Film Festival powered by Tribeca Festival, set for July 9-10 in Los Angeles. This dynamic festival, born from a partnership between UNINTERRUPTED, the athlete storytelling powerhouse founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter, and Tribeca Enterprises, co-founded by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro, enters its second year with a commitment to showcasing the unique nexus of sports and filmmaking.
The festival, renowned for its innovative approach to merging sports culture with cinematic expression, is expanding its reach by introducing a new submission process for filmmakers. This initiative invites emerging talent to become part of the festival’s inaugural class of award recipients, giving their creative works a platform at one of the year's most anticipated events in sports cinema.
“Partnering with Tribeca to harness the influential voices of top athletes in the film industry reflects UNINTERRUPTED’s core mission,” said Ricardo Viramontes, General Manager of UNINTERRUPTED. “LeBron James, Naomi Osaka, and Joel Embiid are emblematic of excellence, making them ideal to spearhead our quest to discover and elevate the next generation of filmmakers.”
Submissions for the festival opened on April 29 and will continue until May 31, welcoming short films from around the globe. Filmmakers can apply and find more details at www.filmfreeway.com/UNFilmFest.
Set against the vibrant backdrop of Los Angeles, the two-day event promises to intertwine the realms of sports and entertainment, offering fans unique access to athlete-creators and groundbreaking film premieres. Highlights include post-screening Q&A sessions, exclusive premieres, and thought-provoking panel discussions on the state of sports in cinema.
Jane Rosenthal, Co-Founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, shared her enthusiasm about the collaboration: “Working with The SpringHill Company in Los Angeles allows us to not only celebrate the art of storytelling but also to push the boundaries of traditional film festivals. This partnership underscores Tribeca’s dedication to championing sports filmmaking and enhancing our presence beyond New York City.”
