Midway’s East River is ushering in the fall season with a vibrant array of events that promise to transform the Buffalo Bayou into a bustling hub of music, culture, and community engagement. With its first phase now open to the public, East River invites Houstonians to explore its unique offerings through a series of free, lively gatherings designed to celebrate the city’s rich culture and diversity.
Beats on the Bayou: Music enthusiasts are in for a treat with the *Beats on the Bayou* concert series, which will light up the first Friday of each month from September through December. Each event, running from 6 PM to 9 PM, will bring a fresh musical experience to Buffalo Bayou. The series kicks off on September 6 with a Rock/Pop Night featuring performances by the Outsiders Band and Rozy Band. October 4 will have a Latin flair with Rapture delivering high-energy covers, while November 1 will be a special Dia De Los Muertos celebration with the CTS Band paying tribute to the Queen of Tejano and Latin music. The series concludes on December 6 with a nostalgic 90s Night and Christmas Beats, headlined by Yung Chris.
BLCK Market: On the second Saturday of each month from September through December, East River will host the renowned *BLCK Market*, the largest gathering of Black-owned businesses in the nation. From 1 PM to 5 PM, over 30 Black entrepreneurs, artisans, and vendors from across the country will showcase their talents and products. This vibrant marketplace will feature a unique selection of clothing, art, candles, skincare, books, and more, accompanied by live music, fitness activities, and a variety of food trucks. The market dates are September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14, offering an unmatched opportunity to support Black-owned businesses and experience Houston’s diverse culture.
East River Fall Farmers Market: A new addition to the fall lineup is the *East River Fall Farmers Market*, hosted by the iconic East End favorite, Harris County General Store BBQ Co. Taking place on the fourth Saturday of each month from September through November, this market will run from 10 AM to 2 PM and feature fresh, local produce and artisanal goods. Dates to mark on your calendar are September 28, October 26, and November 23. It’s the perfect spot to pick up seasonal goodies while supporting local farmers and artisans.
"We’re thrilled to welcome the community to East River this fall," said Amanda Barron, Director of Marketing and Creative at Parkway. "These events showcase our commitment to creating a vibrant, inclusive destination that celebrates Houston’s culture and creativity as East River’s first phase comes to life."
East River's Ongoing Transformation: With the completion of construction on its first phase, East River is already becoming a vibrant live-work-play destination. The coming months will see a host of retail, dining, and entertainment venues opening their doors, adding even more life to the development. Confirmed tenants include CoolXDad, City Cellars HTX, Kyuramen, La Calle Tacos & Cantina, Lick Honest Ice Creams, and more. Additionally, Orion Holdings Group, Inc., Anton Paar USA, and Port Houston have chosen East River for their headquarters, with Port Houston's new headquarters currently under development within the first phase.
