On Saturday, August 24, 2024, Houston City Council Member Edward Pollard, in collaboration with India House and several key community partners, will host a Diaper Distribution event aimed at supporting families in need within District J. The event will take place from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, or until supplies last, at India House, located at 8888 West Bellfort, Houston, TX 77031.

Recognizing the essential need for diapers among families with young children, the event seeks to ensure that babies and toddlers in the district have access to this crucial item. Diapers will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, with the goal of reaching as many families as possible.

Council Member Pollard has partnered with India House, H-E-B, Kroger, Connect Community, and the Texas Diaper Bank to make this event possible. These organizations have come together to address a significant need in the community, demonstrating their commitment to supporting local families.

Council Member Edward Pollard highlighted the importance of the Diaper Distribution event, stating, "I represent District J, which is the most diverse community in the most diverse city in America, where 85 percent live in apartment complexes. We have the highest employment rate but the lowest median income, which means my constituents are very hard-working but still find it challenging to make ends meet. As such, I know that providing essential items like free diapers, will help lessen the financial burden of families in need because every dollar counts."

Pollard's remarks underscore the critical need for community support in District J, where many residents, despite their hard work, face significant financial challenges.

Families are encouraged to arrive early to take advantage of the free diapers available. This initiative underscores the importance of community collaboration in meeting the needs of Houston's diverse population.
