 The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office (FBCSO) is now accepting applications for its Citizens Police Academy (CPA), set to begin in Spring 2025. This 11-week program, designed to educate community members about law enforcement, is free of charge and will run from January 16 to March 27, 2025.

Program Details
The CPA sessions will be held at the Gus George Law Enforcement Academy, located at 1521 Eugene Heimann Circle, Richmond, Texas, directly across from the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Classes take place every Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Online registration is open now and will close on January 6, 2025, at 5 p.m. The program is limited to 35 qualified participants, who will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

What to Expect
Participants in the CPA will gain insight into the criminal justice system and the operations of the Sheriff’s Office. The curriculum includes classroom presentations and practical, hands-on experiences. Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Tour the Sheriff’s Office facilities.
  • Learn about divisions such as Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Detention, Narcotics, and the 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center.
  • Participate in activities led by law enforcement training experts.

This program is especially beneficial for those considering a career in law enforcement or simply seeking to deepen their understanding of the field.

Eligibility and Application
To apply, individuals must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have no criminal arrest record.
