AARP Texas teamed up with the Houston Association of Hispanic Media Professionals (HAHMP) to host a lively media mixer, uniting local journalists and community advocates. With nearly 600,000 members in Harris County, AARP is committed to enhancing communities through initiatives focused on caregiving, fraud prevention, healthy living, and championing policies that benefit older adults.

Rosalinda Martinez, Director of Community Strategy at AARP, shared a heartfelt account of the organization’s impact. She highlighted how AARP Houston tackled digital disparities during the pandemic by offering Spanish-language technology classes for older adults. "Watching an older couple graduate from the course reminded me of my parents and explained why I am so passionate about the work we do," Martinez said.

HAHMP President Mayra Moreno, anchor at ABC-13, underscored the importance of collaboration. "This event helps ensure that the voices of older adults are heard and that our community stays informed about the issues that affect them. We're proud to work alongside AARP to positively impact and bridge the information gap," Moreno stated.

Further solidifying their support, HAHMP and its members donated blankets and slippers to older adults, bringing comfort and warmth to the community.
