This past Saturday, Texas Southern University (TSU) transformed into a festive haven as Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Foundation brought its fifth annual Winter Wonderland theme park and holiday drive to the heart of Houston. With a mission as bold as its host, this year’s event marked a milestone by intertwining holiday cheer with the foundation’s multi-year commitment to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

A Celebration of Legacy and Generosity

Held in partnership with TSU—the Webster family’s HBCU alma mater—and the Houston Food Bank, the Winter Wonderland event provided joy and essentials to 1,000 Houstonians. The foundation distributed over 2,000 toys and bikes, 1,000 bags of food, 200 pairs of Nike Cactus Jack sneakers, and exclusive Cactus Jack merchandise, making it a day to remember for families across the city.

The event was more than just a holiday giveaway. It served as a tribute to the Webster family’s HBCU legacy and their commitment to education through the Waymon Webster Scholarship Program. Since its inception, the program has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to more than 100 graduating seniors, empowering a new generation of leaders. This year, for the first time, the scholarship program was integrated into the holiday drive, emphasizing the foundation’s dedication to academic excellence and community support.

Winter Wonderland Comes to Life

The TSU campus buzzed with holiday spirit as attendees explored the Winter Wonderland-themed outdoor inflatable park. Children’s laughter echoed from a giant bounce house, and Santa Claus himself made a special appearance, spreading cheer to young and old alike. Families lined up at branded stations to receive limited-edition Cactus Jack Nike sneakers, Fanatics gear, and exclusive Houston Astros merchandise.

Longtime Cactus Jack partners, including the Houston Astros, had a significant presence at the event. Their station featured sign-up opportunities for Scott’s TXRX Lab and the Waymon Webster Scholarship Program, ensuring “future scholars” had access to information on how to apply for HBCU scholarships. The event seamlessly blended holiday festivities with educational empowerment, creating a unique and impactful experience.

Star-Studded Support for a Worthy Cause

The Winter Wonderland event was graced by several notable figures, including the Webster family, who are proud HBCU alumni; Chairman of Texas Southern University Brandon L. Simmons; and City of Houston Controller Chris Hollins. Surprise appearances by Don Toliver and Serena Page added an extra layer of excitement, as all attendees came together to champion the foundation’s mission.
