Celebrating 55 Years of Apollo 11 at Space Center Houston

Join us at Space Center Houston as we commemorate the historic Apollo 11 lunar landing, a monumental achievement that took place on July 20, 1969. From July 16 to July 24, 2024, visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the legacy of this groundbreaking mission through a series of engaging activities and exhibits.
A Tribute to Human Achievement
Apollo 11, launched from Cape Kennedy, carried astronauts Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin on a journey that captivated the world. Neil Armstrong’s iconic words, “…one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind,” echoed across the globe as he became the first human to set foot on the lunar surface. The mission concluded with a safe splashdown in the Pacific Ocean on July 24, 1969, marking a pivotal moment in human history.
Commemorative Activities and Learning Experiences
Space Center Houston will host a variety of educational and interactive experiences throughout the eight-day celebration. Guests will have the unique opportunity to explore significant artifacts from Apollo 11 and engage in activities that highlight the ingenuity and courage of the mission’s crew.
