Movie lovers, the LGBTQ+ community, and allies are invited to join the festivities at Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown this June to celebrate Pride Month. This series of exciting events supports The Trevor Project, the leading suicide prevention and crisis intervention nonprofit organization for LGBTQ+ young people. For every ticket purchased from the Pride Programming, $1 will be donated to this crucial cause.

Event Highlights:

1. 25th Anniversary of “But I’m A Cheerleader” - June 20, 7:45 PM

Attendees can celebrate with a spectacular rooftop party, enjoy a themed pre-screening bash, participate in a lively trivia contest, and dress to impress for a Cheer Off and costume contest. Guests are encouraged to channel their favorite characters and show off their spirit.

2. “Drag Me to the Movies” - June 23, 6:00 PM

Participants can look forward to a dazzling drag show featuring fabulous queens themed to “To Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar.” The drag show starts at 6 PM, followed by the movie screening at 7 PM. It promises to be an evening not to be missed.

3. “Purple Rain” Silent Disco - June 27, 6:30 PM

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of “Purple Rain,” guests can enjoy a Prince-themed silent disco. 

Attendees are encouraged to put on their best purple outfits and prepare to dance all night long to Prince-themed music. The silent disco will take place after the film, with doors opening at 6:30 PM. There will be an opportunity to get social with other Prince fans one hour before the film. The rooftop will feature music, great food and drink, classic games, and photo backdrops perfect for social media.

These events are all for guests aged 18 and over.

Age Policy Update:

Rooftop Cinema Club has updated its age policy to allow younger audiences and families to enjoy the rooftop experience. Screenings starting prior to 4 PM are open to all ages. Screenings starting between 4-7 PM are open to teens aged 13+. Screenings after 7 PM are for guests aged 18 and over only. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult (18+). Kids' tickets are $11 (ages 12 and under only) and teen tickets are $15 (ages 13-17 only). Age limits may vary for special events.

Venue Information:

Rooftop Cinema Club Uptown’s Screen 1 area includes 198 seats, and the Screen 2 area includes 186 seats. Both screening areas feature Adirondack chairs (singles) and Adirondack loveseats (for two). The venue boasts a revamped lounge area where guests can enjoy all the rooftop has to offer, including lawn games, skyline views, and cinemagoers’ favorite concessions and snacks. An extensive menu of beer, wine, and canned cocktails is also available.
