President Joe Biden recently unveiled a significant immigration policy aimed at safeguarding families of U.S. citizens with noncitizen spouses and children. This initiative facilitates eligible noncitizens in applying for lawful permanent residence without leaving the country, ensuring families can remain together.
In response to this pivotal development, Harris County Attorney Christian D. Menefee expressed his strong support:
"President Biden's new policy protects families and embodies the finest Texas and American values. Immigrants who have contributed to our communities for years, married American citizens, and established families here deserve a clear pathway to citizenship. Our immigration system should uphold dignity and unity, not create barriers and threats of deportation."
As the top civil lawyer for Texas' largest county, Christian D. Menefee leads the Harris County Attorney’s Office, representing the county in all civil matters and lawsuits. Elected at 32 years old, Menefee made history as the youngest and first African American to hold this office. Under his leadership, the office of 250 attorneys and staff members continues to advocate for justice and equality within Harris County.
