Avelo Airlines today announced it is expanding service from Southern Connecticut’s most convenient airport — Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) — to three new nonstop destinations: Houston, Texas; St. Louis, Missouri; and Traverse City, Michigan.
At the start of these routes, Avelo will be the only airline offering nonstop service from Connecticut to these three popular destinations. Additionally, Avelo is the only airline in the state of Connecticut offering nonstop flights to the state of Missouri, and the only low-fare airline offering flights to the states of Texas and Michigan. All three routes begin in June 2024 and will operate on Boeing Next-Generation 737 aircraft. Introductory one-way fares start at $62*. Travelers can make reservations at AveloAir.com.
Avelo also announced it will base a sixth aircraft at HVN. The addition of a sixth aircraft exemplifies Avelo’s continued growth in New Haven and the airline’s appeal to travelers from across Connecticut. This aircraft will create approximately 35 more jobs at HVN and will contribute to economic development across the region. In addition to Avelo’s six HVN-based aircraft, the airline also supports flights at Tweed with two additional aircraft based at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) – bringing the total number of Avelo aircraft serving Tweed to eight 737s.
Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “We are excited to offer Connecticut residents even more travel options with the addition of Houston, St. Louis and Traverse City. Whether visiting friends and family, enjoying a leisurely vacation or attending an important business meeting, Avelo offers time and money-saving convenience for Connecticut travelers. With 24 nonstop destinations, flying from Tweed is easier and more affordable than ever. Additionally, when you consider our industry-leading reliability, it is clear why almost 2 million people have flown Avelo at Tweed since 2021.”

Chairman of The New Haven Airport Authority Board Matt Hoey said, “Today marks another significant milestone for Tweed-New Haven Airport and the communities we serve, and we applaud Avelo for their continued focus on Southern Connecticut flyers.
