In case you missed it:  UHD’s 40,000 Windows Café was packed with a standing-room-only audience for last month’s inaugural live taping/concert of Valen the Valentine in the Rhythm & Books series. Mark your calendar now for the second installment in the daytime concert series when Charly Siaba and The Mighty Orq perform in two separate concerts starting at noon on Wednesday, March 27.

Free and open to all, Rhythm & Books is a series of intimate, live tapings featuring Texas-grown talent in the 40,000 Windows Café in W.I. Dykes Library.  The tapings/concerts later become available on UHD’s YouTube channel.

Predicated on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, the Rhythm & Books daytime concert series is the brainchild of Spencer Lightsy, UHD Associate Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. “With this series, our aim is to transform UHD’s library space into a dynamic stage (and recording studio) for talented musicians from across the state and share that experience with our students,” said Lightsy.
