 Archway Gallery is thrilled to announce its participation in PrintHouston 2024 with the dynamic exhibition Ink&Image 2024This citywide celebration of printmaking showcases the incredible talents of Archway Gallery's own printmakers alongside distinguished guest artists. The exhibition will be open from June 8, 2024, and promises to be a visual feast for art enthusiasts.

Archway Gallery Printmakers:

Blaine Davis: A veteran Houston printmaker for over 30 years, Davis excels in copper plate etchings. His work involves complex processes including hard ground, soft ground, and aquatint. Davis’s pieces often incorporate controlled accidents and textural transfers, resulting in captivating images.

Donna E. Perkins: Known for her intricate and detailed prints, Perkins brings a unique perspective to the medium.

Shirl Riccetti: Riccetti’s prints are celebrated for their vibrant energy and expressive lines.

John Slaby: Slaby combines traditional techniques with modern themes, creating thought-provoking artworks.

Liz Conces Spencer: Spencer’s work is recognized for its delicate balance of color and form.

Robert L. Straight: Straight’s prints often explore geometric forms and abstract concepts.

Cookie Wells: Wells uses printmaking to explore themes of nature and human experience.

Guest Artists

Mary Lee Gray: A former member of Archway Gallery and an esteemed printmaker, Gray’s work is known for its transparency and layered collage techniques. With a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina and an EdD from the University of Houston, Gray has taught extensively and served as an art director for New Orleans public television. Her woodcuts and linocuts offer a complex, nuanced exploration of her subjects.

Liv Johnson: An instructor and Printmaking Department Manager at the Glassell School of Art, Johnson’s work delves into transitional environments, capturing the interplay of natural settings and unseen forces. Her unique perspective is shaped by her experiences in Hawaii and Texas, bringing a distinctive voice to the exhibition.
