Aldine ISD
Aldine ISD is launching the Health Education and Learning (HEAL) high school at the Nimitz Ninth Grade campus, in partnership with Memorial Hermann. Students can choose from five medical pathways: Nursing, Physical & Occupational Rehabilitation, Medical Imaging, Pharmacy, and Non-Clinical Medical Administration.
Program highlights include:
- Work-based learning in hospital and clinic settings, plus classroom experiences like guest lectures and skills simulations.
- A mentor program starting in 9th grade and extending one year post-graduation.
- Volunteer opportunities from 9th grade and employment opportunities starting in 11th grade.
- A Summer Infusion Program for 8th graders, with stipends beginning in 11th grade.
- Priority interviews for pathway positions at Memorial Hermann.
This initiative aims to provide students with practical experience and professional development in the medical field.
Alief ISD
Alief ISD proudly announces that Ms. Hussain, a teacher at Alief Sne ed Elementary School, has received the 2024 WhatATeacher Award. This honor includes a $1,000 classroom grant to enhance her teaching resources.
The award recognizes Ms. Hussain's outstanding dedication and innovative teaching methods. Alief ISD extends gratitude to community partners for their support, which is vital in helping teachers and students thrive. This grant will allow Ms. Hussain to implement new educational projects, directly benefiting her students. The district celebrates her achievement and her positive impact on education.
Fort Bend ISD
Aashi Kasotia from Austin High School and David Yancy from Ridge Point High School have each received a cash scholarship. Sofia Waheed from Travis High School has been awarded a complimentary real estate license course from Champion School of Real Estate.
Fort Bend ISD looks forward to Sofia's contributions as she helps welcome new residents and students to the district.
Galena Park ISD
The Galena Park Community Council PTAs (GPCC PTA) celebrated a successful year with their annual scholarship luncheon, awarding over $20,000 in scholarships to deserving students. In addition to these generous awards, many other scholarships were presented during the event.
The luncheon was a day filled with laughter, love, and a strong sense of community. The GPCC PTA extends heartfelt thanks to their dedicated members, volunteers, and staff for making this event possible. The council looks forward to another year of supporting students on their educational journeys.
