The Lone Star Flight Museum Board of Directors has announced Anna Hawley as the new President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Lt. Gen. Doug Owens USAF, (ret.), following his retirement. Hawley, currently the Chief Operating Officer, will officially assume her new role on June 1, 2024.

Lt. Gen. Owens, who has led the museum for the past eight years, played a pivotal role in relocating the museum from Galveston Island to Ellington Airport in 2017. Under his leadership, the museum opened with a renewed mission focused on celebrating aviation history and promoting STEM education. Owens navigated the museum through various challenges, leaving it in a thriving state.

"I am very proud of where the museum is today, thanks to our board of directors, staff, and volunteers. With their support, the museum is poised for greater growth. I am excited for Anna and confident in her leadership," said Owens.

Pete Olson, Chairman of the Board of Directors and former U.S. Congressman, praised Hawley's contributions: "Anna has been integral to our museum's growth and community impact over the past five years. Her experience in non-profit leadership, marketing, and museum operations is exactly what we need to continue our strategic plan. She is the right person to lead our museum to new heights."

Hawley expressed her excitement about her new role: "I am honored to have the support and confidence of the board. As a native Houstonian, I am thrilled to lead one of the best museum experiences in this city. I am proud to have worked alongside General Owens and wish him well."

Hawley will lead a team of 43 full and part-time staff and over 100 volunteers. Jerry Scott, the current Director of Flight Operations and an aviation-industry veteran, will take over as Chief Operating Officer on June 1, 2024.
