The holiday season is set to sparkle brighter in Houston with the arrival of the Jingle Bell Bar, a whimsical winter wonderland taking over Aero Cocktail Co. from November 27 to December 28. This immersive pop-up experience, nestled between the Galleria and River Oaks District, promises a festive escape filled with themed rooms, holiday-inspired cocktails, and enchanting entertainment, making it the ultimate destination for holiday cheer.
A Winter Wonderland Like No Other
Behind the Jingle Bell Bar is a powerhouse trio of hospitality mavens: Alexis Mijares, co-founder and Beverage Director, and Angelique Cook Cavazos, co-founder and Artistic Director—known for their spine-tingling success with The Cursed Cauldron—alongside Nick Galvan, owner of Aero Cocktail Co., a chic Latin-owned cocktail lounge. Together, they've transformed the venue into a multi-sensory holiday playground with three jaw-dropping themed rooms and two bars:
- Classic Christmas: Dive into timeless holiday vibes with a main bar decked out in traditional red, green, gold, and white decor.
- Candyland Lounge: A sugary utopia where gingerbread men, sugar plums, and candy canes dance in pastel hues.
- Après Ski Lodge: Ascend into a snowy mountaintop speakeasy filled with cozy woodland charm and frosty ambiance.
“We wanted guests to feel like they’re stepping into a magical holiday world,” said Mijares. “Each room has its own vibe, creating a journey that’s both festive and immersive.”
Cocktails That Sleigh the Season
Mijares, an award-winning mixologist, has curated a menu that captures the spirit of the holidays in every sip. From classics with a twist to inventive creations, there’s something for everyone. Highlights include:
- Mistletoe Martini: A festive mix of Ketel One Vodka, orange liqueur, and cranberry.
- Jingle Bell Nog: A decadent blend of Hardy Cognac, rum, and nutmeg.
- Yule Mule: A seasonal spin on the Moscow Mule with tequila, mulled wine, and ginger beer.
For those abstaining from alcohol, delightful options like Mrs. Claus’ Cocoa (a rich, triple-chocolate hot cocoa) and La Tortola (a sparkling non-alcoholic punch) are available.
Paired with these libations are holiday-inspired bites such as Reindeer Chow, Grandma’s Onion Dip, and tamales from the legendary Irma’s Southwest, offering a taste of Houston’s culinary heritage.
Deck the Halls with Entertainment
Adding to the magic is a lineup of dazzling performances and interactive events:
- Jingle Bell Jazz: Live jazz performances (Dec. 5 & Dec. 19).
- Jingle Bell Burlesque: A sultry holiday showcase (Dec. 12 & Dec. 26).
- Sinatra Christmas: Timeless holiday classics performed by local crooners (Dec. 19).
- Santa’s Workshop: Sundays are for crafting with activities like cookie decorating and candle making.
Giving Back in Holiday Spirit
The Jingle Bell Bar isn’t just about holiday revelry—it’s also about giving back. In partnership with Star of Hope Mission, guests can bring toys for donation and receive a complimentary shot as a token of gratitude.
“As much as we love creating experiences, it’s equally important to spread the spirit of generosity,” said Galvan.
