Aldine ISD Hosts Successful Healthy Fall Festival
Aldine Independent School District’s Family and Community Engagement (FACE) Department teamed up with Equality Health Foundation and Community Health Choice to host the fourth annual Healthy Fall Festival on November 16. Held at the M.O. Campbell Educational Center, the event provided critical resources to district families, including food and health services.
With the help of MacArthur High School students and coaches, 1,000 turkeys and bags of produce were distributed to attendees. The festival also offered access to vaccines, health information, and resources from Aldine Choice Schools, Voting, and Family and Community University.
The event drew 4,250 participants, who enjoyed live student performances, games, activities, food trucks, and raffle giveaways featuring prizes such as bicycles and televisions.

Pasadena ISD Teacher Wins Prestigious Science Award for Second Year
Pasadena Memorial High School’s Cathleen Baxter Swindle has once again claimed the top spot in the Shell Science Lab Regional Challenge, marking her second consecutive win. The award recognizes excellence in science education, celebrating teachers who go above and beyond to inspire young minds in STEM fields.
Swindle’s innovative teaching methods and unwavering dedication have earned her this prestigious honor, highlighting her commitment to advancing science education. Her win not only reflects her hard work but also brings pride to Pasadena ISD, serving as an inspiration to colleagues and students alike.

Spring High School Band Strikes the Right Note with Award-Winning Season
The unmistakable sound of the Great Green Marching Machine echoes excellence as the Spring High School Band continues its award-winning streak this fall. Maintaining a tradition of superior ratings at the UIL Region 33 Marching Contest since 1989, the band has added new accolades to its storied history.
On November 9, the band showcased its 2024 production, N.Y…See, at the US Bands Southeast Texas Championship at Legacy Stadium. Performing a diverse repertoire that included works by Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, YMusic, and The Ramones, they secured first place in Group Three and an overall third-place finish. They also swept special awards for Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance, and Outstanding Overall Effect.
Bringing this ambitious program to life is a yearlong endeavor, with students dedicating thousands of hours to perfect every detail. The band’s strength lies not only in its talent but also in its diversity. Members hail from various backgrounds and represent a wide array of cultures, uniting under a shared passion for music.
As the Great Green Marching Machine continues to captivate audiences with its unforgettable performances, the Spring High School Band exemplifies teamwork, resilience, and pride, leaving an indelible mark on the community.
