Harris County Early Voting Underway with Focus on Curbside Voting

Early voting in Harris County is currently in full swing, with reports of high turnout among residents. In light of this increase in participation, Harris County Clerk Teneshia Hudspeth has issued a statement regarding curbside voting to clarify its intended use.

Curbside voting is designated for voters who are physically unable to enter the polling place without assistance or who may risk injuring their health. Hudspeth emphasized that any abuse of the curbside voting process creates hardships for those who genuinely need this service, urging voters to adhere to the guidelines set forth in Texas Election Code Sec. 64.009.

Additionally, voters with mobility impairments may receive priority inside the polling location. Individuals assisting those with mobility challenges can also request voting order priority, as outlined in Texas Election Code Sec. 63.0015.

As the Chief Election Official, Hudspeth reiterated her commitment to ensuring that voting laws designed to assist individuals with disabilities are implemented effectively. She encourages all eligible voters to participate in the electoral process while respecting the needs of their fellow citizens.
