In celebration of 30 years as a pioneering and leading Black-led national organization dedicated to addressing the Black breast cancer crisis, Sisters Network® Inc. will host the 2024 National Black Breast Cancer Summit. The event will take place from October 4-6, 2024, at the Hyatt Regency-Galleria, located at 2626 Sage Road, Houston, TX, 77056. The summit is free and open to the public.

The two-day event will feature leading medical experts from major institutions who will present the latest information on breast health and survivorship. Registration for the summit is currently open at sistersnetworkinc.org.

Statistics highlight the urgent need for such an event: Black women are 42% more likely to die from breast cancer than White women. Additionally, Black women under age 35 are diagnosed with breast cancer at twice the rate of White women and are three times more likely to die from the disease.

“Our National Black Breast Cancer Summit is needed now more than ever,” said Karen E. Jackson, Founder and CEO of Sisters Network Inc. “Our sisters are facing alarming breast cancer challenges. It’s imperative that we amplify the Black breast cancer crisis and educate the community to help save our sisters’ lives.”

Jackson emphasized the organization’s commitment to empowering and educating Black women about early detection, advocating for health equity, and eliminating barriers to increase access to quality care for all women.

On Saturday, October 5, at 12:00 p.m., the summit will also feature the 30th Anniversary Pretty In Pink Luncheon & Style Show, with fashions presented by Saks Fifth Avenue. Tickets for the luncheon are priced at $100, with a portion of the funds supporting the Karen E. Jackson Breast Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP).

“As Sisters Network® Inc. celebrates 30 years at the forefront of the Black breast cancer movement, I’m inspired by the courage and resilience of the countless Black women our organization has supported emotionally through their breast cancer journey,” Jackson added. “The lives we have saved through education on breast health, and the over $1.6 million in financial assistance and mammogram support we’ve provided to the Black community, drive us to continue this vital work.”
