The 11th Annual Islamic Arts Festival is set to take place on November 9-10, 2024, at the University of Houston, promising a vibrant celebration of Islamic arts and culture. This year's festival will showcase the diversity and richness of Islamic visual and performing arts, including spoken word, film, and more. As the largest and oldest Islamic arts festival in the USA, it is anticipated to attract hundreds of Houstonians and visitors from across the country. The event is entirely free to attend.

Marking its 11th anniversary, the festival is expanding its scope with new additions. In addition to the traditional visual arts display, this year's program will feature a film festival, a comedy show by Preacher Moss, and a Sufi music entertainment program. The move from its previous suburban location to the heart of Houston at the University of Houston represents a significant milestone, aiming to broaden the festival's reach and introduce Islamic art to a larger American audience.

The festival will highlight a captivating live performance by Spain's Al-Firdaus Ensemble, and offer a range of activities including a spoken art program, academic seminar in collaboration with the University of Houston’s Kathrine G. McGovern College of The Arts, and art workshops. With over 5,000 pieces of art by more than 50 artists, attendees will have the chance to view, appreciate, and purchase Islamic art. Interactive sessions, workshops on Islamic art techniques, and live demonstrations of calligraphy, henna tattoos, ebru, and painting will further enrich the experience.

Festival-goers can also enjoy ethnic food and engage in various children’s art activities. The event will be held at the University of Houston’s Student Center South, located at 4455 University Dr, Houston, TX 77204. The schedule includes a visual arts display from 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM on both days, with a comedy show and entertainment from 6:00 PM to 10:30 PM on Saturday, November 9.

The dedicated team behind the 11th Annual Islamic Arts Festival is excited to bring this unique cultural celebration to Houston and invites everyone to join in the festivities.
