For over 80 years, the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) has been a beacon of hope, opportunity, and success for minority students across the United States. As one of the nation’s largest and most influential scholarship organizations, UNCF has continually paved the way for youth and young adults to achieve their dreams through higher education. Today, in an exciting collaboration, UNCF is once again expanding its reach and impact by partnering with The Walt Disney Company to offer exclusive scholarships to students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

For the past 12 years, Disney has stood by UNCF, offering critical financial support to HBCU students with aspirations to pursue careers in the entertainment industry. This partnership has blossomed into the Disney UNCF Scholars Program, an initiative aimed at empowering talented students and reducing the financial barriers that often prevent them from accessing higher education. The program also emphasizes career exploration, professional development, and mentorship, setting students on a path to success not only academically but also professionally.

A Collaboration with Purpose

The Disney UNCF Scholars Program is more than just a scholarship fund. It represents a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion, particularly in the entertainment industry. Disney, through its major networks such as ESPN, FX, and National Geographic, has created a platform where students from HBCUs can thrive, gain hands-on experience, and build networks that will support them throughout their careers. With this partnership, the goal is to create pipelines for young Black talent to excel in media, entertainment, and beyond.

The program offers scholarships to eligible students who meet specific criteria, including a strong academic record, a clear interest in pursuing a career in media or entertainment, and a demonstrated need for financial assistance. Applications for the Disney UNCF Scholars Program are now open, and eligible students are encouraged to apply before the October 1st, 2024 deadline. This opportunity is not only about financial support but also provides access to professional development resources, career mentorship, and exclusive networking events with industry leaders.

Interested students can submit their applications online by October 1st, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. EST. This could be a life-changing opportunity for many, opening doors to careers that might otherwise seem out of reach. Apply here to begin your journey!

 Program criteria include:

A Legacy of Empowerment

For decades, UNCF has played a pivotal role in shaping the futures of countless Black students. Through scholarships, educational programs, and community partnerships, UNCF has been a constant advocate for higher education in underrepresented communities. As Arnika Jackson, Director of Panda Cares’ Student Professional Development Programs, shared, "The work that UNCF does goes beyond just financial aid; it’s about shaping lives, building futures, and creating opportunities where none previously existed."

This partnership with Disney is a natural extension of UNCF’s mission to provide students with not just education but opportunities for long-term success. By teaming up with one of the most influential media companies in the world, UNCF continues to show its unwavering dedication to minority students, ensuring that they have the resources and support they need to reach their full potential.

Building a Better Future

In a world where access to education remains a challenge for many minority students, initiatives like the Disney UNCF Scholars Program are essential. With the support of Disney and its wide-reaching platforms, HBCU students will have the opportunity to gain not only an education but also industry-specific training, mentorship, and career advancement.

This program is more than just a scholarship; it’s a gateway to leadership roles in an industry where representation matters. As HBCU students across the nation strive for greatness, UNCF and Disney are stepping up to ensure that these dreams are within reach.
